Why it matters now: Africa's largest economy is scaling manufacturing, energy and processing capacity faster than it can train the engineers who program, commission and maintain the machinery. The bottleneck in Nigerian industrial automation is increasingly human, not mechanical.

Prize competitions rarely move national output on their own. But when the reward is a training skid rather than pure cash, the sponsoring logic shifts from publicity to capability transfer. Advanxis is funding the tooling , not merely the winner.

The competition invites entrants to apply modern control and data technologies to transform local equipment into safer, more productive systems. The scope is deliberately broad, spanning discrete and process automation.

Projects are assessed on real-world applicability , the emphasis is on retrofitting and modernizing existing Nigerian assets, not laboratory concepts.

NAP 2026 introduces two distinct tracks for the first time, separating solo innovators from academic teams. Notably, applicants do not need a completed prototype at the registration stage.
