Reading the "explosion-proof" honestly

The marking says something more specific than the headline: Ex mb is encapsulation — the coil is potted so that no ignitable interior exists, which is a different (and in many ways friendlier) protection concept than a flameproof enclosure. For the buyer this means three practical things. You may fit this coil anywhere the Zone 1 / Zone 21 (2G/2D) classification applies without a heavy Ex-d housing — the moulding is the certification. The 3 m screened cable is part of that certified arrangement: route it through a certified gland into your junction box, land the green-yellow earth on the shield and the earth point both, and keep the screen continuous — an uncertified plug-in connector would undo the Ex rating. And the numbers matter when you replace like-for-like: 220 VAC at 14.6 mA is a low-draw AC coil, and the sister versions in the 3009 family change voltage and letter (the MD-type DC24V coil is the common alternative), so match the full order number to your valve's duty, not just the connector shape. All four sets here are factory-bagged Italian production with the marking crisp on every moulding.
