What is the MAC 55B-11-PI-421BAAD?
The 55B-11-PI-421BAAD is a MAC Valves 55B series three-port solenoid valve: the mid-size poppet valve in MAC's range, a 120 V AC coil (50-60 Hz, 6.0/7.2 W) at working pressures of 30 to 150 PSI, on the pilot-assisted poppet design that tolerates dry air and zero-pressure start — the traits that made MAC the default on punch presses and clutch/brake circuits. The teal cast body carries the MAC moulding and the port face, the black PID-421BAAD solenoid module bolts on top, and this set arrives with the coil, lead wires and the factory operating sheet. This record covers three new original units, boxed (box labels dated 02/07/25, ref N21189); the intake record lists them as new original with a one-year warranty, lot weight about 3 kg. Panel notes
The 55B's balanced poppet starts against zero pressure differential — no minimum pressure needed to shift, which is exactly why press and clutch circuits specify it. Wire the coil through the safety relays as the original did; these valves are usually the last element in an E-stop chain and deserve the same wire gauge as the original. On first air, cycle the valve with the manual override before energising, and confirm exhaust air is free of oil mist — a misting exhaust on a MAC valve usually means the spool seal has aged, not that the valve needs replacing outright.
