Omron E5GN-R1TC Digital Temperature Controller: Complete Guide and Technical Specifications
On this page
What is the Omron E5GN-R1TC?
The E5GN-R1TC is Omron's slim-line digital temperature controller in the vertical 1/16-DIN format — the half-width body (48 × 24 mm face) that packs a full PID temperature loop into panels too narrow for a square controller. The strings decode cleanly: R1TC is the relay-output build (OUTPUT 1 A) with the thermocouple input and the CT1 over-current detection alarm the manual covers — a current-transformer input that watches the heater circuit for element faults. Supply is 24 V AC/DC (4 VA / 2.5 W, 50/60 Hz), the multi-range input accepts the standard thermocouple classes, and the nine spring-clamp terminals on the base take the wiring without screwdrivers. Approvals: UL US Listed (Process Control Equipment, 40LM), CE. The carton reads TYPE E5GN-R1TC, TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER, TEMP MULTI-RANGE, VOLTS AC/DC24, LOT NO. 0352MR, MADE IN JAPAN. One unit, 99% condition in original packaging with the Japanese instruction sheet, 1-year warranty as recorded at intake. All 8 photos and 1 video below show this exact controller.

The slim controller, and why CT1 matters
Machine builders reach for the E5GN when the panel has a 24 V control supply and a slot that a square controller will not fit: the vertical half-DIN body drops into a 45 × 22 mm cutout, the spring-clamp terminals take the wiring in seconds, and the single display over three keys carries the whole operator interface. The R1TC build is the heater-loop specialist of the family — relay output for the contactor or small heater group, thermocouple input across the standard classes, and the CT1 function that gives this slim controller a capability most of its size class lacks: a current-transformer input that watches the heater current itself. Wire the CT around the heater feed and the controller detects a burned-out element or a stuck contactor — the two heater faults a temperature loop cannot see — and raises the alarm output on its own. That fault supervision is why the Japanese instruction sheet shipped with this unit covers the CT1 over-current detection specifically. The UL process-control listing covers the compliance file, the 24 V AC/DC supply rides either a control transformer or a DC rail, and the lot 0352MR traces the unit to its Japanese production run. 99% condition in the original box: the drop-in replacement for an E5GN-format loop, or the controller for a new slim-panel build.
