The 1746 range includes SLC 500 I/O and chassis-related hardware. A 1746-IB16 is an input-module listing, while 1746-P2 identifies a chassis power supply; the shared prefix does not mean they perform the same function.
For I/O replacement, identify the electrical signal and terminal arrangement along with the catalog number. If the fault is in the processor or programming connection, use SLC 500 controller parts instead.
