DBI10U-M30-AP4X2 Turck Inductive Sensor: Complete Technical Guide and Applications
On this page
What is the Turck DBI10U-M30-AP4X2?
The DBI10U-M30-AP4X2 is a Turck inductive proximity sensor in the M30 threaded-barrel format: an all-metal stainless barrel with a 10 mm rated operating distance (Sn = 10 mm on the data card), a PNP switching output, and a wide 10…65 V DC supply window at switching rates up to 3,000 per minute. It is the hard-duty build of the family — the fully threaded stainless shell is designed to be screwed home flush into metal, sealed against wash-down, and survive the impacts that destroy plastic-faced sensors. Each unit ships with its yellow Turck data card, a black cable with a four-conductor core, and two hex lock nuts. Made in Germany by Hans Turck GmbH & Co KG (Mülheim/Ruhr), Ident-No. 1582231, cUL US Listed (38GN, Class 2 Source, Ind. Cont. Eq.). Ten sets, new, 1-year warranty as recorded at intake. All 8 photos and 1 video below show these exact sensors.

What the barrel format buys, and what the suffixes mean
An M30 barrel inductive sensor is specified where the metal itself can do the sensing work: the fully threaded stainless body threads into a tapped hole, clamps with the two lock nuts, and presents nothing but metal to chips, coolant and impact. The 10 mm rated distance is generous for the M30 size — enough to see targets through a film of cutting fluid that would blind a tighter sensor — and the model string decodes the rest: BI10 for the 10 mm inductive class, U for the extended-range build, M30 for the thread, AP4X2 for the PNP electronics with the four-conductor cable. The data card's wiring diagram lands the PNP output on 1BN (+), 3BU (−) and 4BK (switched), and the card's most practical line for installers is the Class II note: supply the sensor from a Class II (double-insulated) source per the industrial-control-equipment listing, which is what the cUL US 38GN file covers. The 10…65 V DC window is the wide-input signature — one sensor spans 12 V machine systems and 24 V cabinets without a jumper. For metalworking cells, press shops and wash-down conveyors, this is the sensor that keeps working after the plastic-barrel alternatives have been replaced twice. Ten identical factory sets are photographed here, each with its data card and lock-nut pair intact.
