Mitsubishi FX2N Wiring

2026 Industrial Intelligence Report

FX2N input wiring—sink vs source. Here's from field experience.

Sink vs Source

Sink Input

Connection: +24V to input

COM: Negative

Flow: Current into PLC

Source Input

Connection: Input to COM

COM: Positive

Flow: Current out of PLC

Wiring Example

Push Button (NO)
Connect to input point, COM to ground
Sensor (PNP)
Brown wire to +24V, blue to input
Sensor (NPN)
Blue to input, black to COM

FX2N supports both sink and source on same module—16 points, 2 groups of 8.

Connection Types

Type Wiring>
Sink +24V to input, COM to 0V
Source Input to COM, +24V to device
Pro-Tip: Match sensor type to wiring—PNP needs source, NPN needs sink.

Check sensor specs before wiring.

FAQ

+16 inputs?
Yes—16 points, 2 groups of 8. Both sink and source supported.
+PNP vs NPN?
PNP = source wiring (high side switch). NPN = sink wiring (low side switch).
+Resistor needed?
