What is the ebm-papst 4606 Z fan?
A brand-new ebm-papst 4606 Z AC axial cooling fan — the 119 × 119 × 38 mm metal-frame fan that drives the airflow inside inverters, drives and control cabinets. The hub label carries the dual mains rating: 4606 Z · 115V~50Hz 230mA 19W · 115V~60Hz 210mA 18W · ZP — one fan for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz supplies at 115 V AC, from ebm-papst St. Georgen's China plant (label: China(N), date code 47.18), certified to the cULus (SP/UR marks), VDE and CE. The frame is black painted aluminium with a welded wire finger guard on the intake side, the housing side is moulded with the AIR FLOW → and ROTATION → arrows so orientation is never a guess, and the motor connects through two spade terminals on the flank plus a frame earthing screw. Ten pieces, new in their individual bags, recorded 26 December 2025 at about 0.5 kg as recorded. Eleven photos plus the warehouse video below.

Fitting notes for the swap
Two things make this fan a clean replacement in cabinets built around the 4600 series. First, the dual-frequency print: 115 V at both 50 and 60 Hz is on the label, so the same spare serves machines wired for either supply without derating tricks — read the label, not the box, when you check the rating. Second, the airflow marking: the AIR FLOW and ROTATION arrows on the flank tell you which side exhausts before the fan ever spins; mounting it backwards halves the cooling and nobody notices until the drive trips on temperature. Wire it through the two spade terminals (line and neutral — an AC shaded-pole/asynchronous motor of this class has no polarity), land the earthing screw on the cabinet's protective earth, and check the guard side faces the dust: the finger guard is the intake side and is the part you clean. The ZP code is ebm-papst's build variant marker — when restocking, match model plus variant (4606 Z, ZP) so the airflow and noise figure stay as the machine was commissioned with. All ten pieces photographed here are unused, bags sealed, labels factory-crisp.
