Inductive & Capacitive Proximity Sensors

Proximity sensors detect targets without mechanical contact. Inductive sensors are used for metal targets; capacitive sensing can address a wider range of materials, depending on the application.

For a replacement, establish the output type before selecting a similar housing. NPN and PNP outputs connect differently to controller inputs, while normally open and normally closed describe switching behavior. Keep the mounting style and sensing distance with the part number, especially where nearby metal can affect installation.
