What is the WAGO 859-304 relay module?
The 859-304 is a WAGO DIN-rail relay module: feed 24 V DC / 12 mA into the coil terminals (A1+ / A2−) and it switches a single changeover contact — terminal 11 common, 12 normally-closed, 14 normally-open — rated 250 V AC / 5 A / 50–60 Hz. Inside the grey housing sits a WAGO 857-152 relay (6 A / 250 V~ contacts, cULus recognised) on a 636-288 V04 board with a red status LED, and the module carries the full certification row on its face: CE, UKCA, CCC, EAC, cULus Listed E175199 (AC230V/6A), and ATEX/IECEx/UKEX/CCC-Ex II 3G Ex ec nC IIC T4 Gc for Zone 2 panels (WAGO16ATEX9000X). Terminals are push-in spring clamp, taking 0.08–2.5 mm² (AWG 28–14) stripped 5–6 mm; ambient −40 °C to 50 °C. This record covers a full factory box of ten, batch 10044840922323---04, made in WAGO's P. R. China plant (box date 0720), received new in original packaging with a three-month warranty; they passed through the Koeed warehouse on 13 October 2025, and the nine photos below show them as received.

Reading the face and the box
The module face is a one-glance datasheet, printed in DIN notation: IN "=24V / 12mA" — the equals sign means direct current — and OUT "~250V / 5A / 50…60Hz", where the tilde marks alternating current. The circuit diagram beside it shows the coil with its suppression diode and LED, and the terminal legends map the wiring: A1+/A2− for the coil, 11/12/14 for the changeover contact. The box repeats the order data — 10 × 859-304, REL, 继电器模块 (relay module), ID 60341831 — plus the wire range pictogram (0.08–2.50 mm², AWG 28–14, 5–6 mm strip) and the hazardous-location marks. Note the ATEX/ec nC rating: this is the Zone 2 (Category 3) variant, for use in areas where explosive gas is not present under normal operation.
Where it fits
This is the classic PLC-interface building block: a 24 V DC logic output drives the coil, and the relay contact switches a heavier AC load — a contactor coil, a lamp bank, a small motor starter signal — with the LED showing coil state at a glance. Because the module is one DIN-rail unit wide with push-in terminals, panels built from these snap together quickly, and the batch number on every unit in this box is identical (10044840922323---04), so the ten modules are one production run. Before installing, note the polarity on the coil terminals and keep within the −40…50 °C window; the contacts are rated for resistive loads at the printed values, so apply appropriate derating for inductive loads.
