Crouzet GN84134140 Solid State Relay: Complete Technical Guide and Applications
On this page
What is the Crouzet GN84134140?
The GN84134140 is a Crouzet GN-series panel-mount solid state relay — the workhorse hockey-puck format that switches a 100 A / 48–660 VAC load from a 4–32 VDC control signal. The label reads it directly: 1/L1 and 2/T1 output terminals rated 100 AMP 48-660 VAC, control side +3/A1 and 4/A2− across 4-32 VDC, with a status LED between them, and the TUV Product Service geprüft, cULus and CE marks. Each unit's side carries the thermal instruction — FOR MAXIMUM RATINGS USE: 0.5°C/WATT HEATSINK — and the ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO line that matches the record's origin note. This lot is ten identical units, each in its own Crouzet box packed in one carton, intake recorded 15 October 2025, record weight 3 kg. Nine photos and an inspection video cover the carton, the units and the label detail.
Part details
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Brand / series | Crouzet GN series panel-mount SSR, type 84134140 |
| Output | 1/L1 – 2/T1, 100 A at 48–660 VAC, zero-cross switching |
| Input | +3/A1 (+), 4/A2− (−), 4–32 VDC control |
| Indication | Input status LED between the control terminals |
| Thermal requirement | FOR MAXIMUM RATINGS USE: 0.5°C/WATT heatsink (printed on the side) |
| Markings | TUV Product Service geprüft, cULus, CE; T0608 batch print; ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO |
| Construction | Epoxy-filled plastic body on an aluminium base plate, mounting hole and centre locator notch, four screw/clamp terminals |
| Lot | 10 units, each boxed; intake 2025-10-15, record weight 3 kg |
Values are read from the unit label and the photographed construction; the heatsink figure is the manufacturer's own side printing.
Running 100 amps through a hockey puck
At 100 A the SSR is not a drop-in component — it is half a thermal system. The aluminium base plate is the interface: bolted flat to a 0.5 °C/W heatsink with thermal compound, the relay holds its full rating; on a smaller sink it must be de-rated, which is exactly what Crouzet's side printing warns. The zero-cross output stage switches at the AC waveform's zero point, so heaters, transformers and motor starters see no switching transients, and the 4–32 VDC input takes a PLC transistor output or a temperature controller's logic port directly. The LED gives the panel technician the state at a glance, and the four-terminal layout — two fat output studs, two control screws — keeps the power and logic wiring physically separated on the face.
The ten units here are one build — every side carries the same T0608 print and the ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO line — each sealed in its own Crouzet box and packed as a full carton. For a heater bank, an oven zone or a plating rectifier build that needs multiple 100 A legs, a same-batch ten-pack keeps the control and thermal design identical across the panel.
