Where the DC-099 earns its place
The DC-099 is the inlet half of every barrel-plug power arrangement: the wall adapter or bench supply ends in a 5.5 mm plug, the device ends in this jack. Because it is all metal rather than plastic-bodied, it takes panel torque without cracking, solders up quickly (the shell lug doubles as the mechanical anchor for the ground lead), and the thread-plus-locknut holds it in punched or drilled panels from 0.5 to 3 mm without adapters. Three details worth knowing at build time. The certificate's "2.0" is the centre-pin class — match it to your plug family, because 5.5 × 2.1 mm and 5.5 × 2.5 mm plugs are visually near-identical and a 2.5 mm plug on this 2.1-class socket will feel loose and drop out under vibration. The socket is non-switching: there is no break-before-make contact to disconnect battery power when the adapter plugs in, so battery/adapter changeover needs its own diode or relay upstream. And the shell lug is your mechanical anchor as well as the negative — dress the ground lead with a strain relief loop so the solder joint never carries panel vibration directly.
