Festo DHTG-220-4-A Rotary Indexing Table: Complete Technical Guide for Industrial Automation
On this page
What is the Festo DHTG-220-4-A?
The DHTG-220-4-A is Festo's pneumatic rotary indexing table in the 220-class four-position build: a cast aluminium base carrying a machined turntable that steps 90° at a time under air power, with the drive and locating mechanism buried in the housing and the four labelled air ports — A, B, C, D — on the side panel bringing the indexing cylinder and its locking function to life. Festo material number 548093, C8 variant, maximum pressure 8 bar, with a Freudenberg seal ringing the turntable and a through-bore at its centre for utilities to reach the tooling mounted above. It is the component that turns a row of stations into a rotary assembly or test cell: load, process, inspect, unload, each station stepping into place on the same index. One unit, new in original packaging, 15 kg, 1-year warranty as recorded at intake. All 14 photos and 1 video below show this exact unit.

How a pneumatic indexer earns its place
An indexing table is the mechanical clock of an assembly cell: every station's fixture bolts to the same turntable, and instead of moving parts between stations, the stations take turns. The DHTG-220-4-A does that stepping pneumatically — the four side ports feed the internal drive cylinder that rotates the table through its index angle, and the housing's locating mechanism pins the turntable at each station so the position repeatability belongs to the table, not to the actuator. The details in the photos are the service-facing half of that design: the machined turntable with its toothed periphery and central bolt circle takes the fixtures; the through-bore passes air or cabling up to the rotating tooling; the Freudenberg seal ring keeps swarf and coolant out of the bearing plane; and the underside relief channel shows where the mechanism breathes inside the housing. The C8 suffix marks this build within Festo's option matrix, and the 8 bar maximum is the standard shop-air ceiling — no special supply needed. In service, an indexer like this fails slow (seal wear, locating-pin wear) and repairs by kit, which is why a new-in-box unit at the 220 size is the part integrators hold for the cell they are quoting today and the one they serviced last year.
