Omron D4BS-15FS Safety Gate Switch: Comprehensive Guide to Industrial Safety Interlocking
On this page
What is the Omron D4BS-15FS solenoid interlock switch?
The D4BS-15FS is Omron's solenoid interlock switch — the safety switch that holds a machine guard locked until the control system releases it: the red tongue on the head slots into the guard, the internal solenoid keeps it trapped while the hazard runs, and the contact block reports the locked state to the safety circuit. This record is a lot of thirteen factory-new units in the Omron boxes — eleven of lot 02625Z4 and two of lot 13325Z4 — one-year warranty as recorded at intake on 14 January 2026. The nameplate carries the full compliance sheet: EN60947-5-1, EN50041, IP67, VDE 0660 Part 200, NEMA Types 3, 4, 4X, 6P and 13, A600, UL certified E47675, with OMRON Corporation, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto 600-8510, Japan — MADE IN JAPAN — and the KC/UKCA sticker on the side. All eight photos and the inspection video show these exact switches.

Why guard locking is a different switch
A plain safety limit switch tells the controller the guard is closed. A solenoid interlock like the D4BS goes one step further: it physically holds the guard shut until the solenoid is energised to release it. On a press, a robot cell or a mixer with a coast-down time, that difference is the whole safety argument — the operator can pull the door early, but the D4BS tongue stays trapped until the machine has actually stopped and the controller applies the release signal. The face carries the two status windows an electrician checks from outside, the front key window takes the red tongue from the guard, and the cast 30/60 drilling scale on the body means the switch drops onto the standard EN50041 hole pattern without re-marking the plate.
The thirteen units in this lot arrive as factory Omron boxes — eleven lot 02625Z4 and two lot 13325Z4, each barcoded 4536853207366 with the 7024 mark and MADE IN JAPAN — with the operating and general instruction sheets in each carton. For a machine builder or a maintenance shop standardising one guard-locking switch across several cells, a thirteen-lot of the same type keeps spares and wiring drawings in step.
