ISOFLEX TOPAS NB 5051 vs SKF LGHP 2: Spindle Grease Comparison

ISOFLEX TOPAS NB 5051 vs SKF LGHP 2

Both greases are specified for high-speed spindle and electric motor bearing applications but use fundamentally different thickener technologies. KLÜBER ISOFLEX TOPAS NB 5051 uses a barium complex thickener with PAO base oil, while SKF LGHP 2 uses a polyurea thickener with PAO base oil. The thickener choice affects compatibility, relubrication behavior, and temperature performance.

Technical Comparison

Specification ISOFLEX TOPAS NB 5051 SKF LGHP 2
Thickener Barium complex Polyurea
Base Oil PAO/isoparaffin PAO
NLGI 2 2-3
Temperature -50°C to +130°C -40°C to +150°C
Speed Factor Up to 2,000,000 mm·rpm Up to 1,000,000 mm·rpm

When to Choose ISOFLEX TOPAS

ISOFLEX TOPAS is engineered specifically for ultra-high-speed spindle applications requiring DN values up to 2 million mm·rpm. Its barium complex thickener provides superior mechanical stability at extreme speeds. The lower minimum temperature (-50°C) makes it suitable for cold-climate and cold-start applications. KLÜBER's extensive experience in machine tool spindle lubrication makes this a preferred choice in CNC machining environments.

When to Choose SKF LGHP 2

SKF LGHP 2 offers a higher maximum operating temperature (150°C vs 130°C), making it more suitable for applications with elevated ambient temperatures. The polyurea thickener provides excellent oxidation stability and is inherently compatible with most bearing types. It is widely available through SKF's global distribution network and is a common OEM fill for SKF electric motor bearings.
