The long barrel, and what the suffixes fix
The E2B family is Omron's general-purpose cylindrical line, and the suffix string tells the installer everything before the datasheet opens. M12 fixes the thread and the standard hole. The L in LS04 marks the long barrel — the longer coil geometry that senses metal farther away than a flush-mounted body of the same diameter, at the cost of needing plastic or standoff mounting, since surrounding steel would detune it. S04 is the 4 mm rated distance, and B1 the M12 connector — the plug-in tail that makes replacement a two-minute job with no stripped leads. The two LED windows on the barrel show supply and switch state during commissioning, and the included hardware — two nuts and the serrated washer — handles the clamping on a standard bracket.
