ISOFLEX NBU 15 vs TOPAS NB 52: grease selection checks
On this page
Can TOPAS NB 52 replace ISOFLEX NBU 15?
A shared barium complex soap thickener does not establish interchangeability. ISOFLEX NBU 15 and ISOFLEX TOPAS NB 52 have different formulations and published application guidance. Check the lubricant specified for the machine, compare the current product information and obtain an application-specific changeover decision before substituting one for the other.

What the manufacturer documents
| Item | ISOFLEX NBU 15 | ISOFLEX TOPAS NB 52 |

| Base oil | A combination of ester, synthetic hydrocarbon and mineral oils. | Synthetic hydrocarbon oil. |
| Thickener | Barium complex soap. | Barium complex soap. |
| Product description | High-speed spindle-bearing grease with load-carrying capability. | Grease for rolling and plain bearings. |
| Temperature information | Check the current product information for the intended application. | −50 to 120 °C; short peaks up to 150 °C depend on the application. |

The NB 52 peak-temperature statement is conditional. It should not be used as a continuous operating limit. Obtain the product information for both greases if the decision depends on numerical viscosity, speed-factor or temperature limits.
How to compare them for a bearing
Record the bearing type and size, operating speed, measured temperature and exposure to water or process media. Include the lubrication method and the existing grease. These details give the machine builder or lubricant supplier a defined application to assess.
NBU 15 is described by Klüber for high-speed service. That does not establish it as the correct choice for every spindle. Likewise, the NB 52 product description does not support a blanket claim that it can run faster than NBU 15.
Before changing products
A shared thickener type is not a documented approval to mix the two finished greases. Ask for compatibility and changeover guidance for the exact products, including the cleaning procedure, fill quantity and running-in requirements specified for the assembly.
After an approved change, follow the machine's prescribed checks for temperature, noise and vibration. Keep a record of the product and batch used so later maintenance can identify what is in the bearing.
Ordering the specified grease
The product photographs link to KOEED listings for the two named greases. Send the full product name, pack size and quantity with the enquiry. Ask for the current product information and the safety data sheet applicable to the delivered product.
Common purchasing questions
Is TOPAS NB 52 an equivalent to NBU 15?
The cited manufacturer pages do not establish a general replacement approval between them. Confirm the application with the machine builder or lubricant supplier before substituting.
Can grease color identify the product?
Use the labelled product name and supply records. A visual resemblance does not establish that two products have the same formulation or approval.
Order the grease specified for your machine
Send the exact product name, required pack size and quantity. If you are considering a substitution, include the currently specified lubricant and the application conditions.
