Panasonic DP-M2Z Digital Pressure Sensor: Comprehensive Guide for Industrial Automation
On this page
What is the SUNX DP-M2Z?
The DP-M2Z is a SUNX digital differential pressure sensor — the compact cube that watches the small pressures: filter blockage across a cleanroom filter, suction at a vacuum pad, airflow proof in a duct. SUNX is the brand that became Panasonic's sensor division (Panasonic Electric Works bought SUNX in 2003 and the DP-M line lived on under both names), and this build is the plainest of the family: a 0~2 kPa range printed on the case, two barb ports marked H (high) and L (low) on the underside, a red digital display with M1/M2 setpoint positions, and a three-wire lead — brown to 12-24 V DC, blue to 0 V, black as the switched output. The front keys set it in seconds (up, down, MODE, with the O-ADJ quick zero), the unit toggles between mmH₂O and kPa, and the OUT lamp shows the switch state at a glance. Two units, new in their SUNX factory boxes (HBR022), Made in Japan. All 9 photos and 1 video below show these exact sensors.

Where a 2 kPa differential switch earns its place
Most industrial pressure work is measured in bars; the DP-M2Z lives three orders of magnitude below that, where the interesting events are gentle: a HEPA filter loading up with dust, a vacuum gripper losing its seal, an aspiration line slowing. Across a filter, a clean element barely registers while a loaded one builds differential steadily — so the DP-M2Z's job is usually as a watchman, its black output wire closing a PLC input when the H-minus-L pressure crosses the M1 setpoint and signalling "change the filter" long before airflow dies. The M2 position carries the second threshold, which lets one sensor run a warning and a trip. Setting is the part SUNX got right: the two arrow keys walk the setpoint while the live reading sits on the display, MODE pages through the options, and the O-ADJ key zeroes the display with both ports open to atmosphere — the whole commissioning routine in under a minute. The wiring printed right on the case (brown 12-24 V, blue 0 V, black out) removes the datasheet hunt at install time, and the H/L barbs on the underside take standard 4/6 mm silicone tube. For panels built around SUNX and early-Panasonic sensor lines, this is the drop-in replacement that keeps the original look and the original wiring colours — two boxed units here, one for the line and one for the shelf.
