Maintenance & Troubleshooting

1. Why is the sensor output dropping gradually over time?
The O2-A3 is a consumable lead-based galvanic cell. As the internal lead anode is oxidized over its lifespan, the baseline output will naturally decrease. Regular span calibration is required to compensate for this signal decay. If the output at 20.9% O2 drops below acceptable instrument limits, the sensor must be replaced.

2. Why is the response time (t90) suddenly very slow?
A sluggish response usually indicates that the capillary diffusion barrier on the top of the sensor is obstructed. Check for dirt, heavy condensation, or protective membranes blocking the gas path. Never use compressed air directly on the sensor face, as it may rupture the internal membrane.

3. Can the sensor operate in a vacuum?
No. Electrochemical sensors rely on the partial pressure of oxygen. Large or sudden pressure transients can cause false readings or physical damage to the cell.
