Pepperl+Fuchs NBB1.5-8GM50-A2-V1 — M8 Inductive Proximity Sensor, PNP NO, M12 Connector
P+F · NBB Series · M8 Inductive Sensor · 1PC · In Stock
The NBB1.5-8GM50-A2-V1 is a compact cylindrical inductive proximity sensor from the Pepperl+Fuchs NBB series, the German-engineered workhorse used across factory automation, robotics, packaging, and small machine tool cells. With a 1.5 mm flush (shielded) sensing range, 50 mm M8 stainless-thread body, PNP normally-open (A2) output, and an M12 4-pin plug (V1), this single-piece unit is the go-to choice for short-range metallic target detection in tight spaces. Sourced alongside our Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fanuc, Schneider, Yaskawa, Panasonic, and KEYENCE portfolios, the NBB1.5-8GM50-A2-V1 ships worldwide with a quote turnaround of 24 hours from Moritta@KOEED.COM.

Application Scenarios — Where It Fits
The NBB1.5-8GM50-A2-V1 is purpose-built for short-range metallic-target detection in confined spaces, where a larger M12 or M18 body simply will not fit. In real production environments it shows up as end-of-stroke feedback on small pneumatic cylinders, tool-length confirmation on compact tooling, and presence checks on the small fixtures that line factory automation cells.
- Small parts detection on assembly lines and pick-and-place cells feeding Allen-Bradley conveyors and Siemens SIMATIC stations.
- Robot gripper open/close confirmation on Fanuc and Yaskawa robot arms, where the 8 mm barrel slips between finger plates.
- Tooling and jig presence checks on Mitsubishi MELSEC and Omron SYSMAC-controlled machining cells.
- Valve position feedback on solenoid manifolds tied to Schneider Modicon PLCs and Panasonic FP-series controllers.
- Counting and indexing on packaging, labeling, and small-format bottling lines supervised by KEYENCE vision systems.
- End-of-stroke and home-position detection on small-format robotics and CNC tool-changer pockets.
- Probing on small machine tools, drills, and tap stations in process control and discrete manufacturing cells.
Integration & Wiring Notes
The V1 suffix designates an M12 4-pin quick-disconnect, the most common connector format on Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Omron sensor installations. Wiring convention is industry-standard, so the unit drops into most modular I/O blocks without rewiring:
| Pin 1 (BN / Brown) |
+V DC (10–30 V supply) |
| Pin 3 (BU / Blue) |
0 V (DC common / ground) |
| Pin 4 (BK / Black) |
PNP output (sourcing — switches high on target detect) |
| Pin 2 (WH / White) |
Not connected on the 3-wire variant |
Because the output is PNP (sourcing), the load is wired between the black output lead and 0 V. This is the same convention used by Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 / S7-1500 digital inputs, Omron CP1E / CJ2 inputs, and most Mitsubishi MELSEC input cards. For NPN-only sinks (some legacy Allen-Bradley 1746 racks), use the complementary NBB1.5-8GM50-A0-V1 variant.
Installation & Commissioning Tips
-
Flush-mounting clearance. This is a shielded (flush) unit, so the metal surrounding the active face must be a minimum of three times the thread diameter (about 24 mm) away from the active face. Tightening against a steel bracket will not damage the sensor but will reduce the effective sensing range.
-
Torque to spec. M8 lock nuts should land at roughly 6–8 N·m. Over-tightening distorts the sensing field; under-tightening allows the unit to back out under vibration, which is the most common cause of intermittent faults in factory automation cells.
-
Reduction factors. The 1.5 mm Sn rating is calibrated on mild steel. Stainless steel drops the range by roughly 20–30%, brass and aluminum by 40–50%. Test on the actual target before committing to a mounting position.
-
Use a pre-wired M12 cordset. Pair the V1 connector with our M12 4-pin cordsets for tool-free swap-out during commissioning. A 5 m or 10 m straight cordset is the most common length for cells tied back to Siemens ET200 or Schneider Modicon remote I/O.
-
Avoid side-by-side interference. When two NBB1.5 units are mounted in the same bracket, separate them by at least 2× Sn along the axis and 3× the thread diameter on the radial axis, or they will cross-talk.
-
Verify LED status. P+F sensors use a green/yellow LED ring. Yellow ON when target detected is the fastest way to confirm polarity on the bench before locking the cable routing.
-
IP67 sealing. The M12 connector face and the active face are both IP67, but always tighten the M12 connector to its click-stop — a half-turn loose is the most common cause of condensation-related false trips.
