Mitsubishi FR-F840-00770-2-60 3.7 kW Inverter (FR-F800 Series, 400 V 3-Phase)
Mitsubishi · FR-F800 · HVAC / Fan & Pump VFD · In stock at KOEED
The FR-F840-00770-2-60 is a 3.7 kW (5 HP), 7.7 A continuous, 3-phase 380–500 V AC drive from the
Mitsubishi FR-F800 series,
the brand’s dedicated VFD family for fans, pumps and HVAC plant. Unlike the general-purpose
FR-A800 line,
the FR-F800 is tuned for variable-torque loads: integrated PID, multi-pump cascading, automatic energy saving and fire-mode override are all built in. KOEED stocks the unit as part of our
multi-brand drives inventory
and supports BOM-level sourcing across Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fanuc, Schneider, Yaskawa, Panasonic and KEYENCE.
Key Technical Specifications / Overview
The FR-F840-00770-2-60 carries the standard Mitsubishi naming scheme: FR-F840 indicates the 3-phase 380–500 V FR-F800 platform, 00770 is the rated output current (7.7 A continuous), and 2-60 is the enclosure / regional specification code. The drive ships with a built-in EMC filter, a 24 V DC control circuit for backup operation, and a removable operation panel. Detailed plate verification is recommended on receipt; the KOEED team can cross-check rating plates via the
AI Diagnostic Tool if you send a clear photo.

Application Scenarios / Where It Fits
Because FR-F800 is built around variable-torque loads (where power scales with the cube of speed), the 3.7 kW FR-F840-00770-2-60 delivers its biggest savings on continuous-duty fluid handling. Typical KOEED deployments include:
-
HVAC supply & return fans in commercial buildings, with PID following duct pressure or CO2 setpoint
-
Cooling-tower fans on chiller plant, modulating on condenser water temperature
-
Chilled-water and condenser-water pumps on variable-primary or primary-secondary loops
-
Domestic and process water booster pumps using the built-in multi-pump cascade (no external PLC required for small groups)
-
Sewage, drainage and lift-station pumps with automatic restart and ground-fault protection
-
Agricultural irrigation pumps on remote sites, paired with a small Mitsubishi FX-series PLC for scheduling
-
Boiler ID/FD fans and dust-collector blowers in light industrial process plant
For higher-overload, constant-torque or servo-style applications (machine tools, extruders, hoisting), KOEED engineers usually route the BOM toward the
FR-A800 general-purpose family
or a matching Yaskawa /
Schneider Altivar drive. Send the load profile to

Integration & Wiring Notes
The FR-F840-00770-2-60 keeps the same terminal layout as the rest of the FR-F800 frame, so existing FR-A700 / FR-F700 wiring loops usually transfer with only minor changes. Key points before powering up:
-
Main power R/S/T to the 3-phase 380–500 V supply, U/V/W to the motor. Always confirm phase rotation matches the pump or fan direction marker before run-up.
-
Built-in EMC filter ships enabled (jumper position J1); leave it active on grounded TN systems and disable only for IT / impedance-grounded networks per the Mitsubishi instruction manual.
-
Control terminals use the same removable strip as FR-A800: STF/STR (forward/reverse), RH/RM/RL (multi-speed), SD common, 4-20 mA on terminal 4, 0–10 V on terminal 2.
-
RS-485 / Modbus RTU is wired to terminals RDA/RDB/SDA/SDB. Default station ID is 0; switch to 1–247 in parameter Pr.117 before connecting to a master.
-
Optional fieldbus plug-in cards (CC-Link, Profibus-DP, EtherNet/IP, BACnet) install in the option slot under the front cover; KOEED also stocks the matching Mitsubishi CC-Link cables and junctions.
-
24 V DC backup on terminals +24 / SD keeps the control board, panel and communications alive when the main 400 V supply is cut — critical for fire-mode handshakes and remote diagnostics.
-
Cross-vendor PLC integration is straightforward: Modbus RTU talks directly to Siemens S7-1200 / S7-1500, Allen-Bradley CompactLogix, Omron SYSMAC NX / NJ and Schneider Modicon M340 CPUs with no gateway.

Installation & Commissioning Tips
-
Mounting clearance: at least 100 mm above and below the heatsink, 10 mm on each side; vertical orientation only.
-
Ambient temperature: -10 to +50 °C without derating up to 80% load; remove the upper cover to lift the rating to +60 °C as documented in the FR-F800 manual.
-
Parameter quick-start: set Pr.79 (operation mode), Pr.1 (max frequency), Pr.7/8 (accel / decel), Pr.9 (electronic thermal), then Pr.128–134 for PID. The optimum-excitation function is enabled by default and gives roughly 5–30 % energy savings against a fixed V/f curve.
-
Multi-pump cascade: Pr.575–591 expose lead / lag, alternation and sleep functions for up to four pumps without an external controller.
-
Fire mode: enabled through Pr.523 / Pr.524; the drive ignores alarms (except hardware faults) and keeps the fan running to support smoke-evacuation routines — verify the local fire-code interlock before enabling.
-
Fault diagnosis: standard codes such as E.OC1 (overcurrent on accel), E.OV1 (overvoltage on accel), E.THM (motor thermal) and E.OPT (option fault) map directly into the KOEED PLC Error Code Database.
-
Signal scaling: convert 4–20 mA loop signals to engineering units with the PLC Analog Calculator before entering setpoints.
-
Replacement parts: KOEED also keeps cooling fans, control boards and operation panels for the FR-F800 family. Send the bad-part photo to the AI Diagnostic Tool for a fast match.
