Description

DATALOGIC Color Mark Sensor TL80-011 SV2227

DATALOGIC Color Mark Sensor TL80-011 SV2227 offers high-precision color detection in a 10-30VDC range for reliable performance.

DATALOGIC Color Mark Sensor TL80-011 SV2227 is a high-precision sensor designed for detecting color changes in various applications. It operates efficiently within the voltage range of 10-30VDC, making it suitable for industrial and domestic use.

Datalogic TL80-011 / SV2227 Color Mark Sensor (10-30 V DC)

Datalogic · TL80 Series · Contrast / Print Mark Sensor · In stock at KOEED

The Datalogic TL80-011 (alternate P/N SV2227) is a high-speed contrast / color-mark sensor from Datalogic’s industrial TL80 family. It illuminates the moving web with a calibrated white or RGB LED, measures the reflected intensity against a taught background and switches its PNP/NPN output the instant the printed registration mark passes underneath — the foundation of every modern label, pouch, sachet, carton and bottle line. KOEED keeps the TL80-011 and SV2227 cross-reference variant ready to ship worldwide, with quotation turnaround within 24 business hours at Moritta@KOEED.COM.

1. Key Technical Specifications / Overview

The ledger below summarises the working envelope of the TL80-011 as it ships from KOEED. Use it to cross-check your machine drawing before issuing a purchase order. For deeper datasheet detail or curve plots, request the original Datalogic instruction manual together with your RFQ.

Stock Status In stock — quote within 24 hours at Moritta@KOEED.COM

Values reflect the published TL80 family envelope; confirm exact suffixes (cable length, output logic, connector style) on your serial label before installation. Need help reading the bar code on the housing? Send a photograph to the KOEED AI Diagnostic Tool for instant nameplate recognition.

2. Application Scenarios / Where It Fits

Color-mark sensors live at the eye-blink layer of a packaging or print line: every cut, every seal, every label apply event is triggered by one of these heads. The TL80-011 / SV2227 has earned its reputation on the following machine classes:

  • Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) baggers — reads the eye-mark printed on the film roll, triggers the cross-seal jaw and rotary knife at the correct repeat length.
  • Horizontal Form-Fill-Seal (HFFS) flow-wrappers — aligns the print on biscuit, chocolate or hardware overwrap with the seal jaws.
  • Label printing & converting — registers the die-cutter, lamination station or cold-foil unit to a printed reference mark.
  • Bottle & tube filling lines — senses the orientation tab so the cap, screen-print or front label aligns with the molded feature.
  • Bag-making machines — gates the hot-knife to the eye-mark, controlling pitch on stand-up pouches and sachets.
  • Web inspection & cut-to-length — provides a hardware-fast trigger for cameras, embossers and tension-controlled cutters.
  • Pharmaceutical blister & sachet — aligns print to perforation and lot-code stations under GMP-grade hygiene wash-down.

Pair the TL80-011 with a brand-matched controller from the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix family, a Siemens S7-1200 / 1500 CPU, a Mitsubishi MELSEC iQ-R, an Omron SYSMAC CJ2 / NX, a Schneider Modicon M340 / M580, a Panasonic FP7 PLC, a Yaskawa MP-series motion controller, a Fanuc CNC I/O Link node, or one of the KEYENCE KV / NX series PLCs — the high-speed PNP/NPN output of the TL80 plugs straight into the high-speed counter or interrupt input of any of the nine PLC platforms we stock.

3. Integration & Wiring Notes

TL80 series heads ship either with an integrated M8 / M12 connector or a pre-wired 2 m PVC cable. Confirm which version your machine drawing calls for before you raise the RFQ — KOEED can supply both flavours of the TL80-011 / SV2227.

Brown (BN) +V supply (10-30 V DC)
Blue (BU) 0 V common (GND)
Black (BK) Switching output (PNP or NPN per option)
White (WH) External teach / mode select input

When the TL80-011 drives a PLC high-speed counter, keep the BK conductor in a shielded cable that is separated from any servo or VFD power cores — the µs-class switching edge is fast enough to pick up coupled noise from a poorly grounded drive bus. For Modbus-based debugging of the downstream master, the KOEED engineering toolset is free to use:

Wiring questions, ground-loop debugging, or migration from a legacy SICK / OMRON E3S head to the TL80 footprint? Send the schematic page and a photograph of the existing terminal block to Moritta@KOEED.COM and our application desk will mark up a one-to-one terminal map before you place the order.

4. Installation & Commissioning Tips

  1. Stand-off distance. Mount the optical face 10-12 mm from the film surface; outside that band the contrast difference between mark and background drops sharply and false-trigger immunity suffers.
  2. Light-spot orientation. Rotate the head so that the long axis of the rectangular light spot lies perpendicular to the direction of web travel — this maximises the edge crispness as the mark sweeps under the beam.
  3. Dynamic teach. Run the web at production speed and press TEACH for two to three repeats; static teach at a stopped machine almost always undershoots the real-world response and leads to drift after the first reel change.
  4. Light vs. dark switching. Choose “dark on mark” when the registration mark is darker than the background (most common on white film) and “light on mark” for negative-printed eye marks.
  5. Mounting hardware. Use a vibration-damped L-bracket with the supplied M3 fixings. Lock the bracket position with a witness mark on the chassis so that any subsequent re-teach can be repeated from the same geometry.
  6. Hysteresis & response time. If the line speeds vary widely, store two profiles via the external teach input and switch from the host PLC.
  7. Optical hygiene. Wipe the lens weekly with a lint-free cloth; powder dust from sugar, flour or pharma blister stations can halve the signal margin in a single shift.
