Radar energy travels in a conical shape. To prevent false triggers, the sensing path must be clear of stationary metal objects (walls, guardrails). Calculate the physical width and height of the Q240RA's beam at a specific distance.

Troubleshooting FAQ

Sensor constantly triggered with no visible target? Check the calculated clearance zone. Radar reflects heavily off metallic structures (fences, pillars) adjacent to the beam path. Adjust the internal DIP switches to shorten the sensing window and mask background reflections.
Why is the target undetected at 2 meters? The Q240RA-Z2CN has a minimum sensing distance (dead band) of 3.5 meters. Objects closer than 3.5m will not be reliably detected due to radar pulse reflection timing.
Does it detect plastic or foam? Radar reflectivity depends on the target's dielectric constant. Metals and liquids yield strong echoes; dry materials like plastic, foam, or wood have low reflectivity and severely reduce the maximum detection range.
