Danfoss 195N1041 VLT2815PT4B20STR0DBF10A00 — VLT 2800 Series 1.5 kW Compact AC Drive
Danfoss · VLT 2800 · VFD / Inverter · 1.5 kW · 3-Phase 380–480 V
The Danfoss 195N1041 (VLT2815PT4B20STR0DBF10A00) is a 1.5 kW compact
AC drive
from the Danfoss
VLT 2800 family, designed for 3-phase 380–480 V industrial mains. It integrates a
built-in RFI filter, an integrated brake chopper, RS-485 Modbus RTU communication
and a removable LCP local control panel,
making it a workhorse for brownfield retrofits, MRO replacement and OEM machine
builds where compactness, reliability and easy commissioning matter more than
fieldbus breadth. KOEED sources the full VLT 2800 family alongside
Allen-Bradley PowerFlex,
Siemens Sinamics,
Mitsubishi FREQROL,
Omron MX2 / RX,
Fanuc spindle drives,
Schneider Altivar,
Yaskawa V1000 / A1000,
Panasonic Minas
and KEYENCE servo platforms,
so multi-brand bills of materials can be quoted in one email.
1. Key Technical Specifications & Overview
The full ordering code VLT2815PT4B20STR0DBF10A00 decodes the
VLT 2800 series naming convention. VLT2815 places the unit in the 1.5 kW power
class; the trailing “PT” denotes the PC Tool programming
option (VLT Motion Control Tool MCT-10). The “4” declares a
3-phase 380–480 V AC input, B20 adds a brake chopper and built-in RFI
filter, ST indicates the standard control variant, R0 means no integrated
display (LCP is supplied separately or shared across drives), and DBF10A00
packages the options suffix used by Danfoss configurators. The drive is
housed in a compact IP20 / NEMA 1 frame size A2 chassis suitable for
cabinet mounting, with side-by-side and book-style installation supported
to save panel space on dense machine layouts.

2. Application Scenarios & Where It Fits
The VLT 2815 1.5 kW is the classic “general purpose” drive for
the 0.37–1.5 kW power band. It is the right pick when the load is a
standard induction motor in the 1–2 HP range and the user does not need
safety-rated STO or high-speed fieldbus. Typical deployments include:
-
Pumps and fans — HVAC air handling units, chilled water pumps, exhaust fans; the integrated PID and skip-frequency bands suit constant-air-volume boxes.
-
Conveyors and material handling — packaging lines, sortation, palletizers running a few hours per shift.
- Mixers, agitators and small extruder screws in food, chemical and plastics plants.
- Simple hoist and winch positioning where the integrated brake chopper dissipates regenerative energy.
- OEM machine builds — textile machines, washing systems, small woodworking CNCs feeding a Fanuc or Mitsubishi controller, or a Siemens SIMATIC S7 cell.
- Brownfield MRO — replacing 20-year-old Allen-Bradley 1336 or Yaskawa VS mini units on existing conveyors where a direct-fit compact form factor is preferred.
The VLT 2800 family has been in continuous production for roughly a decade,
so it is well supported in the field, well documented, and widely understood
by maintenance technicians — an important consideration for plants that
standardise on Danfoss and need fast MRO turnaround rather than the latest
iC2 / iC7 platform.
3. Integration & Wiring Notes
Power terminals follow the standard Danfoss VLT 2800 layout for the A2
frame: L1 / L2 / L3 for the incoming 3-phase 380–480 V mains, U / V / W
for the motor output, and DC+ / BR for the external brake resistor. Control
terminals include 6 digital inputs, 2 analog inputs (0–10 V or
0/4–20 mA, switchable), 1 analog output, 2 relay outputs, and the
RS-485 Modbus RTU pair (terminals 68 / 69). The factory default for the
analog input is voltage; for current-loop setpoints from a PLC, parameter
group 3 must be reconfigured.
When tying the VLT 2815 into a multi-brand cell — for example a
Siemens S7-1200,
a Omron CP1H,
a Schneider Modicon M340
or a Panasonic FP-X —
Modbus RTU on terminals 68/69 is the simplest path. For higher-level
Modbus frame generation and CRC validation,
KOEED’s free calculator helps pre-build request frames. The drive
also accepts a hardware STO-style safe-stop input via the digital terminals
when wired per Danfoss application note MN.20.A1.01; for category 3/PL d
machinery safety, an external safety relay is normally added.
The integrated RFI filter (B20 option) makes the drive compliant with
EN 61800-3 Class A1, so cabinet installation does not require an external
line filter in most industrial environments. For machine builders exporting
into residential or light-commercial environments where EN 55011 Class B
applies, the B20 filter still helps, but a short motor cable (under 5 m)
and proper grounding of the motor housing are mandatory to keep emissions
inside the limit. Earth the drive chassis to the cabinet PE bus with a
short, large-gauge strap — not through the mounting bolts alone.
4. Installation & Commissioning Tips
Plan for at least 100 mm of clearance above and below the drive for vertical
cooling airflow. The VLT 2800 frame A2 supports side-by-side mounting with
no derating, which is useful when packing several drives into a single
cabinet. The book-style (flat-mount) option requires the optional mounting
bracket. Ambient temperature must stay between −10 °C and
+40 °C without derating; up to +50 °C requires either a derate or
forced cabinet ventilation.
On first power-up, run the Quick Menu for motor data (parameter 1-20/1-22
/1-23) and confirm ramp times in 3-4x (accel) and 3-8x (decel). For a
1.5 kW pump or fan, a 5–10 second accel/decel ramp is a safe starting
point. If the load is a brake-controlled hoist, drop decel to 1–2 s
and verify the brake resistor ohm value against the drive’s minimum
permitted Rmin (printed on the label) — never go below it.
Most field issues with the VLT 2815 trace to three root causes: (1) the
analog input configured for voltage while the PLC outputs current, giving
full-scale-at-zero behaviour, (2) the STO / safe-stop terminal left open,
preventing the start command, and (3) the brake resistor undersized for
the duty cycle, which trips warning “W19”. Use the LCP 2 to
read the active alarm number, then cross-check the code in the
PLC Error Code Database
or feed the photo of the rating plate into the
AI Diagnostic Tool
for a faster cross-reference.
For firmware programming, MCT-10 (Danfoss PC Tool) connects via the drive’s
RS-485 port using the traditional 9-pin to terminal adapter. Parameter sets
can be backed up to the LCP 2 and cloned across a fleet, which is convenient
for OEM builds with multiple identical lines. Always lock parameter group 0
(parameter 0-60 = [1] Locked) once commissioning is complete to prevent
field operators from changing critical setpoints.
5. Procurement, Warranty & Lead Time
The 195N1041 is part of the VLT 2800 long-running catalog, with broad
aftermarket availability through the channel. KOEED typically keeps both
new-surplus and tested pull units on the shelf for fast MRO. Each drive is
inspected for visible damage, power-on smoke-test (no-load), and parameter
reset to factory defaults before shipment.
