HYE81MHU 220V-240V Hermetic Refrigerator Compressor — 1PC
Reciprocating Compressor · Single-Phase 220–240V 50Hz · R-600a / R-134a / R-290 · In stock
The HYE81MHU is a high-back-pressure hermetic reciprocating refrigeration compressor
rated for single-phase 220–240V 50Hz mains. Designed in the same small-form-factor
class used across household and light-commercial refrigeration, it is a direct-fit replacement for
legacy units that have failed on small fridges, freezers, ice makers and beverage coolers. KOEED
sources this part through our China Sourcing Company network and
stocks it alongside the broader industrial-automation
catalogue of PLC, HMI, drive and
refrigeration components that maintenance teams typically order on the same BOM.
Key Technical Specifications & Overview
The HYE81MHU sits in the 80–120W cooling-capacity class, the same envelope used by Huayi /
Yangzi / Cubigel and other Chinese OEM hermetic reciprocating designs. The motor is a
single-phase RSIR / RSCR type with PTC start assist, drawing roughly 3.5–4.5A at run.
The unit is rated for modern low-GWP refrigerants (R-600a, R-290) as well as legacy
R-134a, which makes it a versatile drop-in for service work on equipment built across the
last twenty years. The datasheet parameters below reflect the typical published envelope;
for the exact rating on a specific build revision, send the compressor’s nameplate photo
to Moritta@KOEED.COM
and we will cross-check against the manufacturer datasheet before shipping.

Application Scenarios & Where It Fits
HYE81MHU is sized for the small-format cooling duties that show up everywhere from household
kitchens to laboratory benches. It is the kind of part a maintenance engineer pulls out of the
shelf when a fridge or freezer has been running for a decade and finally surrenders its
original compressor. Because the electrical envelope (220–240V 50Hz single-phase) is
the same as the standard mains supply across most of Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East
and Latin America, it is a common fit on appliances shipped into those regions.
- Household refrigerators and under-counter freezers (50–250L class)
- Ice makers, ice cream machines and batch freezers
- Beverage coolers, display coolers and wine cellars
- Medical cold storage, pharmacy fridges and laboratory incubators
- Light-commercial back-bar units and vending machines
- Replacement of failed OEM compressors on legacy refrigeration equipment
On multi-line industrial sites, refrigeration service is usually handled by the same maintenance
crew that works on the
Allen-Bradley PLCs,
Siemens SIMATIC
controllers and
Mitsubishi MELSEC
racks that drive the line. Pairing the HYE81MHU with the right control platform
(often an
Omron SYSMAC
or
Schneider Modicon
CPU for the chiller PLC) lets the same technician quote and receive a complete
refrigeration-and-controls BOM in one shipment.
Integration & Wiring Notes
HYE81MHU uses a 3-terminal hermetic terminal block: Common (C),
Start (S) and Run (R). A PTC start relay plugs onto these
pins and is held in place by a clip on the side of the housing. The run capacitor (RSCR
variant only) drops across Start and Run. Wiring rules:
- Use a dedicated branch circuit with a correctly rated thermal-magnetic breaker and a
refrigeration-rated contactor on the line side.
- Earth the compressor shell to the cabinet protective-earth bus; the hermetic housing
must be bonded even though it is electrically isolated from the windings.
- Match the start relay and run capacitor to the motor nameplate, not to the original
part number — a mismatched relay is the most common cause of repeated compressor
lockout on rebuild.
- Provide a low-voltage control interlock from the chiller PLC (e.g.
1769-L30ER
or
S7-1200 CPU 1214C)
so the controller can flag a high-pressure / low-pressure cutout before the contactor
re-energises.
- Where a variable-speed cold-room demands tighter temperature control, swap the
electromechanical thermostat for a Yaskawa
Yaskawa Varispeed
drive plus PLC PID; HYE81MHU is not inverter-rated, so use it on fixed-speed duty
only.
Refrigeration-side integration: the suction and discharge stubs are typically copper, sized
for solder or flare coupling. Use a properly sized liquid-line filter-drier and a
moisture-indicating sight glass before the capillary tube. If the system originally ran
R-134a and is being re-charged with R-600a or R-290, the charge weight drops by roughly
half — recalculate with the new refrigerant’s PT chart, not the old commissioning
label.
Installation & Commissioning Tips
A hermetic swap looks like a five-minute job until you forget the leak-down step. The
sequence below is the one our
China sourcing
QC team and most OEM service manuals agree on:
-
Recover the old charge with an EPA-approved recovery machine; do not
vent R-134a or R-600a to atmosphere.
-
Cut the process tubes well clear of the old compressor, then braze in
the new unit with a nitrogen purge to prevent internal oxidation.
-
Replace the filter-drier and, if the system has been open for more
than 15 minutes, the sight glass as well.
-
Leak-test the whole low side to 150 psig with OFN (oxygen-free
nitrogen), then evacuate to 500 microns and hold for 30 minutes.
-
Weight-in the new charge on a refrigerant scale; do not
charge by sight glass alone on a capillary system.
-
Run-in for 15 minutes and log suction pressure, discharge temperature
and supply current; compare to the nameplate envelope.
For factory-floor teams that also use KOEED-supplied controls on the same line, the
PLC error-code lookup
and the
AI diagnostic tool
can both help confirm a healthy control side before the compressor is energised. For
panel-builder projects running
Panasonic FP
or
KEYENCE
HMIs as the chiller HMI, the same error-code database covers the controller-side faults.
Procurement, Warranty & Lead Time
KOEED is a multi-brand industrial-automation distributor, not a refrigeration-house OEM.
That said, we routinely add refrigeration components to the same BOM as a ControlLogix
chassis, a SIMATIC S7-1500 CPU, a
Mitsubishi MR-J4
servo, a
Fanuc
spindle drive, a
Yaskawa Σ-7
amplifier, or a
KEYENCE vision
system, so you only have to deal with one vendor for the whole line.
