Why does my AC coil burn out frequently after only a few weeks of use?

The most common cause of premature AC coil failure is a stuck valve spool. When an AC coil is first energized, it draws a massive inrush current (up to 2.2A). Once the armature completes its stroke, the inductance rises, and the current drops to a safe holding level (0.54A). If debris or hydraulic lock prevents the spool from moving fully, the coil remains in the high-current "inrush" state and will rapidly melt its own insulation.

What is the difference between standard AC coils and RAC (Rectified) coils?

Standard AC coils (like the 2BH-C1/C3) run directly on alternating current, which can sometimes cause an audible "buzzing" noise as the magnetic field pulses. RAC coils (e.g., 2BF-R1/R3) contain a built-in bridge rectifier inside the DIN connector. They accept AC voltage but convert it to DC before it hits the winding. RAC coils offer "shockless" shifting, longer relay life, and completely silent holding operations.

Can I temporarily use this 110V coil on a 220V circuit?
