The MSK040C-0450 uses the standard Bosch Rexroth IndraDyn S power and
feedback connectors. Wiring must follow Rexroth's IndraDrive

When retrofitting the MSK040C onto a non-Rexroth axis (for example
upgrading an older
Yaskawa Sigma-II
or Schneider Lexium axis), confirm the controller's Hiperface input card
is present. For Sercos, EtherCAT or Profinet drives, the encoder data is
decoded inside the IndraDrive and re-emitted on the fieldbus.
Installation & Commissioning Tips

Mechanical alignment: use a flexible coupling or
zero-backlash gear coupling; misalignment of more than 0.05 mm will
shorten bearing life. Keep radial load below the Rexroth catalogue
curve.

Mounting orientation: flange-mounted (B5) is standard
for the MSK040C; oil-tight seals are recommended for vertical shaft-up
installations.

Cooling: natural convection up to 4500 rpm; above
this, fit a forced-air kit or derate by ~20 % per Rexroth S1 duty
curves.

Encoder commissioning: Hiperface M1 reports absolute
position within one mechanical turn. After IndraWorks "load motor
data" the drive auto-tunes current, speed and position loops.

Brake-less handling: the NN variant has no holding
brake, so safe-stop on vertical axes must be implemented in the
controller (STO over EtherCAT / Sercos / ProfiSafe).

Storage & environment: store between −20 °C
and +60 °C at less than 75 % relative humidity; allow 24 h
acclimatisation before energising after long storage.

First start-up checklist: verify phase sequence, PE
bonding, encoder shield, STO wiring, then run IndraWorks "test
motion" at 5 % / 25 % / 100 % speed before loading the production
program.
