Field Troubleshooting FAQ

Q1: The LED indicator is ON, but the PLC does not receive a signal.
A: This is likely a Logic Mismatch. The SN12-04DNA is NPN (Sinking). Ensure your PLC input is configured for Source (Common Positive). If you need PNP, you must replace the unit with a SN12-04DPA.

Q2: The sensor triggers erratically or distance seems very short.
A: Check the target material. Non-ferrous metals like aluminum reduce the range by over 50%. Use the Koeed calculator above to verify if your installation distance (Sn) is within the effective range for your specific material.

Q3: The sensor stays ON even when no target is present.
A: Verify if the sensor is "Flush" or "Non-flush" type. If you are mounting a Non-flush sensor into a metal plate, the surrounding metal will cause a continuous trigger. Ensure at least 3x the diameter of free space around the sensing head.
