The TM-1308 is a general-purpose electromechanical limit switch designed for harsh industrial environments. It is routinely specified on lines that mix Chinese and European / Japanese controls — in many cases a single TM-1308 sits next to an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix, a Siemens S7-1200, or a Mitsubishi FX5U as the travel-limit sensor wired back to the PLC's fast digital input.

3. Integration & Wiring Notes

Wiring the TM-1308 to a PLC is straightforward, but a few rules keep the contact and the controller happy over the long term.

• Terminal layout (SPDT): the contact block is labelled COM, NO and NC. Use COM + NO for a sourcing "make on arrival" input, or COM + NC for a fail-safe "break on arrival" signal that is widely used on hoist and elevator door interlocks.
• Multi-voltage: rated 250 VAC / 30 VDC, but the same silver-alloy contact reliably switches 12 VDC, 24 VDC and 110 VAC in the field. For very low-current PLC inputs (< 5 mA) request the gold-plated contact variant to avoid oxide film issues.
• Inductive loads (solenoids, contactors, motor brakes): always fit an RC snubber or flyback diode across the coil. The TM-1308 handles 13 A resistive, but inrush from un-suppressed DC coils will shorten electrical life dramatically.
• Cable runs: keep limit-switch wiring physically separated from VFD power cables. For runs longer than 10 m, use shielded cable and ground the shield at the panel end only, particularly where the switch is wired to a KEYENCE or Omron high-speed counter.
• PLC input wiring: the SPDT contact can be wired either as a sinking or sourcing input to Allen-Bradley CompactLogix / MicroLogix, Siemens S7-1200, Mitsubishi FX5U and Schneider M340. Always confirm the PLC's input debounce / filter time in software (typical 5–20 ms) to suppress contact bounce on snap-action release.
• Series and parallel contact: two TM-1308 units can be wired in series for a safety-category-1 dual-channel limit, or in parallel for a redundant "both must open" interlock.

4. Installation & Commissioning Tips

The TM-1308 is mechanically robust, but a few commissioning habits extend its life and prevent nuisance trips.

• Mounting orientation: install the body with the cable entry facing down (or sideways) so water and oil do not pool on the gland. Use the M5 mounting holes on a flat machined surface; do not over-torque, 2.5–3.0 N·m is enough.
• Lever overtravel: when the lever variant is used, set the cam so the lever reaches its positive-stop position with 5–10° of additional travel available. This prevents the actuator from bottoming out and bending the internal plunger.
• Roller alignment: the roller must run squarely on the cam. Misalignment by more than 5° will skew the operating point and may cause early mechanical wear.
• Cable gland torque: tighten the M20 / PG13.5 gland to the rated torque (typically 2.5 N·m) to preserve the IP65 / IP67 seal. For IP67 service specify the sealed-cable variant at order.
• Continuity test: before energising the line, perform a manual continuity check on COM-NO and COM-NC with a multimeter. The snap action should produce a clean click and an unambiguous contact transition.
• Functional test on PLC: trigger the actuator manually and watch the input LED on the PLC. For Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and Siemens S7-1200, the input status bit should toggle within one scan of the mechanical release.
• Avoid welding-spatter zones: the zinc-alloy housing tolerates light splash, but a weld-cell environment requires a heat shield or a remote-mount bracket.
• Replacement cycle: on high-cycle lines (more than 30 ops/min) inspect the contact block every 6 months. Most field returns are due to worn actuators, not contact failure, so keep a spare TM-1308 in the maintenance crib.
