Rotoflux A10-1771-05L — Compact 1-Pass Rotary Joint
Rotoflux · A10 Series · Hydraulic / Pneumatic Rotary Union · In Stock
The Rotoflux A10-1771-05L is a compact, single-pass
rotary joint
from Rotoflux,
the Italian rotary-union specialist whose product line is now integrated with the Moog / Deublin group.
It transfers a single medium — typically cooling water, hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, compressed
air, or vacuum — between a stationary supply line and a continuously rotating roll, drum, mandrel,
or fixture. It is found in the same
factory automation
environments that use
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix,
Siemens SIMATIC,
Mitsubishi MELSEC, and
Omron SYSMAC.
The suffix decodes as A10 = compact 1-pass body,
1771 = the standard shaft / bore / port code (1/4″ or 3/8″ NPT class),
05L = the L-length housing and seal configuration.
When this catalog number is end-of-life or back-ordered at the OEM, KOEED can usually cross-reference
it to a Deublin or Moog equivalent. Send the datasheet to
Moritta@KOEED.COM
and we will reply with the equivalent within one business day.

Application Scenarios / Where It Fits
The Rotoflux A10-1771-05L is a single-pass rotary union for low-to-medium-pressure media.
It is the right answer wherever a stationary supply hose must connect to a continuously rotating
roll, drum, mandrel, spindle, or fixture. Typical deployments include:
-
Printing presses & paper / film / foil winders — cooling or
heating water to chrome-plated impression rolls, dryer cylinders, and rewind shafts driven by
Yaskawa Σ-7 or
Fanuc βi servo systems.
-
Packaging machinery — air supply to vacuum boxes, blown-film cooling rings,
and label / cap-feed turrets on lines controlled by
Omron NJ / NX or
Schneider Modicon M340.
-
Paper converting & calender rolls — hot-oil or steam-heated rolls
in coaters, laminators, and embossing stacks where seal life and concentricity are critical.
-
Machine-tool index tables & rotary fixtures — hydraulic clamping
and unclamping of pallets on CNC cells run by
Panasonic Minas or
Mitsubishi MDS servo systems.
-
Vision-inspection & indexing turrets — clean compressed air and
vacuum to star wheels feeding
KEYENCE CV-5000 vision stations.
-
Rotary test rigs & end-of-line test benches — slip-ring-style fluid
transfer for hydraulically actuated rotating test heads.
Because the A10 is a 1-pass union, it is the right answer when you only need to
move one medium (for example, water in and water out of the same roll). If the line count,
pressure class, or speed exceeds A10 ratings, KOEED can recommend a multi-pass Deublin / Moog
equivalent on request.
Integration & Wiring Notes
A rotary joint is a purely mechanical / fluid device — there are no electrical terminals
on the A10-1771-05L itself. However, the way it is plumbed and supported directly affects
the machine uptime and the
Allen-Bradley or
Siemens
drive that spins it. Treat the integration as part of the machine's controls envelope.
-
Hose / pipe routing. Use a flexible hose (not rigid pipe) between the
supply manifold and the stator port to absorb run-out and thermal growth. A minimum bend
radius of ~6× hose diameter is typical.
-
Thread sealing. Use PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant on the
1/4″ / 3/8″ NPT threads. Avoid anaerobic sealants that can migrate into the seal
face and damage the carbon-graphite vs. ceramic lapped pair.
-
Shaft alignment. Keep angular misalignment below ~0.05 mm per 100 mm and
lateral run-out within the OEM envelope. Misalignment is the single biggest cause of
premature seal wear on a single-pass rotary joint.
-
Media cleanliness. Filter water and oil to the OEM's ISO 4406 class
(commonly 18/16/13 or better). Particles in the 5–15 µm range will score the
seal face quickly.
-
PLC / drive interlock. The A10 itself is not an electrical device, but the
Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 or
Siemens Sinamics V20 driving
the roll should interlock on seal-monitoring feedback if a leak-detection probe is fitted
in the drain port.
For deeper PLC-side integration, the
KOEED PLC Error Code Database
and the
Modbus CRC Calculator
help debug the drive and inverter side that spins the joint, and the
PLC Hex to Float Converter
handles the analog pressure / temperature scaling around it.
Installation & Commissioning Tips
-
Pre-mount inspection. Confirm the seal face is free of dust, the rotor
spins freely by hand, and the housing threads are clean. A contaminated seal face is the
most common cause of early failure on a fresh install.
-
Mount the stator first. Bolt the stator side to the fixed manifold or
bracket, then slide the rotor onto the shaft and torque to the OEM's clamp value
(typically 15–25 N·m for the A10 size; always check the datasheet for the
A10-1771-05L revision).
-
Pressurise slowly. Ramp from 0 → 2 bar → operating pressure over
30–60 seconds. A sudden spike can fracture a dry carbon-graphite seal face.
-
Run-in at low speed. For the first 15–30 minutes, run the machine
at 20–30 % of rated rpm to seat the seal faces, then bring it up to full speed.
-
Check for weep at the drain. A small amount of media at the drain port
during the first hours is normal; a continuous drip means the seal has been damaged or
contaminated and must be replaced.
-
Document the install. Record the install date, run-in hours, media
temperature, and line pressure. This makes warranty claims and
replacement
requests much smoother.
