METTLER TOLEDO · RALLY TSC · S-TYPE TENSION LOAD CELL · IN STOCK

The Mettler Toledo Rally TSC is a precision S-type / Z-beam tension-compression load cell built for industrial weighing and force measurement. Available in 50 kg, 100 kg, 200 kg, 300 kg, 500 kg, 1000 kg and 2000 kg capacity variants with OIML C2 / C3 / C4 accuracy classes, the TSC family combines a hermetically welded stainless steel / nickel-alloy body, IP68 / IP69K sealing and ATEX / IECEx / FM / CSA hazardous-area certification. In factory automation the TSC is typically paired with weighing modules and PLC-based transmitters from Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fanuc, Schneider, Yaskawa, Panasonic or KEYENCE, and KOEED supports both the cell itself and the surrounding industrial automation spare-parts ecosystem.

Key Technical Specifications & Overview

The Rally TSC is built on bonded-foil strain-gauge technology with a normalized 2 mV/V output and 4-wire or 6-wire sense-line options, so the same housing can serve trade-approved platform scales, batching skids and high-precision force-test rigs. The threaded end-loadings accept standard eye-bolts, rod-ends or load buttons, which keeps mechanical installation simple and field-replaceable.

Application Scenarios — Where the TSC Fits

The Rally TSC's universal S-type geometry and broad capacity spread make it one of the most versatile weighing cells in Mettler Toledo's catalog. Typical deployments include:

  • Industrial platform scales & truck scales — single-cell or multi-cell weighbridges where the threaded end-loadings accept standard eye-bolts or load buttons.
  • Hopper, tank & silo weighing — three- or four-cell suspension systems for batch inventory control, often integrated with Siemens or Allen-Bradley weighing modules.
  • Batching, filling & dosing skids — gravimetric filling for food, beverage, and chemical packaging lines, typically driven by Mitsubishi or Omron PLCs.
  • Crane scales & hanging scales — 50 kg to 1000 kg tension cells on overhead hoists in steel mills, ports, and warehouses.
  • Force measurement & load-test rigs — tension and compression testing in quality labs and on production lines, with readings logged to a KEYENCE vision-guided inspection cell or a SCADA host.
  • Process weighing in food, pharma & chemical plants — IP69K wash-down rated cells in hygienic stainless housings, certified for hazardous areas.
  • Robotics & CNC force feedback — end-effector load monitoring on Fanuc and Yaskawa robot arms, or spindle force sensing on machine-tools monitored by a Schneider Modicon controller.

Integration & Wiring Notes

The TSC outputs a low-level 2 mV/V differential signal, so cable routing, shielding, and grounding deserve the same attention as the cell selection itself. The points below are the ones that most often decide between a clean reading and a noisy one in the field:

  • 4-wire vs 6-wire — choose 6-wire (with separate sense leads) for any cable run over 3 m, or wherever the excitation voltage drop would otherwise degrade the zero stability. 4-wire is acceptable for short jumper cables inside an instrument enclosure.
  • Excitation & sense wiring — use a regulated 10 V DC supply from a dedicated weighing transmitter or analog input module. Sharing excitation with relays or solenoids on the same rail will inject common-mode noise.
  • Shielding & grounding — terminate the cable shield at the instrument end only (single-point ground). Float the cell end to avoid ground loops. Route weighing cables at least 200 mm away from VFD, servo, or welding cables.
  • PLC analog input scaling — convert mV/V back to engineering units in the controller: Weight = (Vout − Zero) × Capacity ÷ (Sensitivity × Excitation). The KOEED PLC Analog Calculator saves the math on 4-20 mA loops; for hex-coded PLC words, the Hex-to-Float converter is the right tool.
  • Multi-cell summation boxes — when several TSC cells share one vessel, use a matched-cell junction box so individual cell outputs can be trimmed before summing.
  • Communication with the controller — pair the load cell with a Modbus, EtherNet/IP, or PROFIBUS weighing transmitter; the same transmitter can be polled by Schneider Modicon, Panasonic FP, or any of the nine supported PLC families. If you are unsure which transmitter matches your existing rack, send the project specs to Moritta@KOEED.COM for a recommended bundle.

Installation & Commissioning Tips

An S-type load cell is mechanically simple but mechanically unforgiving — a few field habits will extend its service life and protect the calibration warranty.

  • Mounting alignment — the threaded eye-bolts at each end must load the cell axially. Side load, twisting, or off-axis pull will bias the reading and may exceed the cell's side-load rating.
  • Self-aligning hardware — use rod-end bearings or self-aligning washers at both ends so that thermal expansion or structural deflection does not pre-load the cell.
  • Torque to spec — over-tightening the threaded end-fittings is the most common cause of zero-shift. Follow the Mettler Toledo datasheet torque values for the capacity variant being installed.
  • Mechanical stops / safety straps — for overhead or lifting applications, install mechanical stops or safety straps sized to 150 % of the rated capacity so a sudden overload never reaches the cell's ultimate-load limit.
  • Pre-load warm-up — apply the rated load three to five times before the final calibration to bed-in the strain gauges and stabilise the zero reading.
  • Calibration workflow — calibrate with calibrated test weights in the final installed position; document zero, span, and linearity at the four corners of the platform. For unusual capacities, send the project specs to Moritta@KOEED.COM for a recommended cell capacity and corner-load check.
  • Re-zero after first loaded cycle — strain-gauge cells can drift slightly after the first full-scale loading; re-zero the transmitter and lock the calibration before going into production.
  • Periodic verification — for trade-approved applications, repeat the linearity check on the schedule defined by the local metrology authority. For process cells, a quarterly span check is typical.

Procurement, Warranty & Lead Time

Mettler Toledo load cells are sourced into a global weighing market where OEM allocation can stretch lead times. KOEED is not the OEM — we are an independent multi-brand China sourcing company that maintains stock of the TSC family and the surrounding automation parts so the cell can be on its way without a 12-week factory wait.

  • Stocked capacities — 50 kg, 100 kg, 200 kg, 300 kg, 500 kg and 1000 kg variants are normally available from our Hong Kong / Shenzhen warehouse. The 2000 kg variant and C4 accuracy grades are quoted on request.
  • Lead time — in-stock units ship within 1-3 business days after payment confirmation. Special-order accuracy classes or non-standard cable lengths add 2-4 weeks.
  • Worldwide shipping — DHL, FedEx, UPS and sea freight; DDP and EXW terms both available. We package weighing cells in foam-lined anti-static boxes so the calibration is not disturbed in transit.
  • Warranty & authenticity — every TSC ships with its Mettler Toledo calibration certificate, datasheet and serial number traceable through our real-time sales records. KOEED provides a 12-month replacement warranty against manufacturing defect on stock units.
  • Quotation process — send a one-line RFQ to Moritta@KOEED.COM, or upload a full BOM via the Create a Quote form. You will get a confirmation of stock and a firm quotation within 24 business hours.
  • Engineer support — our team can also cross-reference a legacy Mettler Toledo cell (such as the S-type SLB-200 / 500 / 1000) to the equivalent TSC variant, or recommend a 9-brand PLC and transmitter bundle — Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fanuc, Schneider, Yaskawa, Panasonic, or KEYENCE — to complete the weighing loop. For hard-to-find or EOL weighing parts, the KOEED AI Diagnostic Tool can take a nameplate photo and suggest a cross reference in seconds.
  • Industry context — load cells are commonly replaced during the same shutdown window as a PLC retrofit; pairing the order with a PLC module, an HMI panel or a servo drive can save on combined shipping and customs clearance.
