Nor-Cal NC-50 125708A28 — 1/2″ (DN50) High-Vacuum Component
Nor-Cal Products · Vacuum Hardware · UHV / HV Compatible · Sourced via KOEED
The Nor-Cal NC-50 125708A28 is a vacuum component from Nor-Cal Products (Yreka, CA), a U.S. vacuum-hardware OEM that has served the semiconductor, analytical-instrument and research-vacuum markets for decades. Nor-Cal catalog numbers carry a long tail of legacy part numbers; 125708A28 sits inside the NC-50 family, which is built around the 1/2″ (DN50) flange size commonly used in KF50, ISO-K50 and CF 2.75″ (mini-conflat) vacuum plumbing. KOEED sources this part as a hard-to-find vacuum-hardware item for Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fanuc, Schneider, Yaskawa, Panasonic and KEYENCE line builders, system integrators and tool refurbishment houses that keep a Nor-Cal spares inventory.
Because Nor-Cal uses the same NC-50 prefix for several product families (bellows-sealed angle valves, all-metal-sealed gate valves, viewport assemblies, flexible couplings, bellows and trap-style fittings), the catalog number 125708A28 is a Nor-Cal P/N but does not decode to a single product family on its own. Send a photo with overall dimensions to Moritta@KOEED.COM to confirm what you have before quoting. See Procurement, Warranty & Lead Time for the confirmation workflow.
Key Technical Specifications & Overview
The spec table below reflects what is verifiable from the Nor-Cal NC-50 family datasheet. Where the catalog number 125708A28 does not pin down a single sub-family, the field is annotated as “family-level / confirm on photo” and the buyer is asked to verify before purchase. Nor-Cal has historically published NC-50 components for both HV (high vacuum, 10-6 Pa range) and UHV (ultra-high vacuum, 10-9 Pa range) duty, so leak rate and bake-out temperature are family-level and must be confirmed against the unit in hand.

Application Scenarios & Where It Fits
Nor-Cal NC-50 hardware is normally found in the vacuum half of an industrial process tool rather than on a PLC backplane, but the two halves live next to each other: a vacuum line that loses leak-tightness will eventually trigger Allen-Bradley CompactLogix or ControlLogix interlocks, a Siemens SIMATIC S7 safety chain, or a Mitsubishi MELSEC-iQ-R shutdown block. That is the reason KOEED stocks the part at all — our China-sourcing team is set up to chase hard-to-find vacuum hardware the same way we chase obsolete PLC modules. Typical deployment sites:
- Semiconductor process tools — load lock, transfer chamber and process chamber isolation valves; viewport windows for optical endpoint detection; flexible couplings for substrate-handler robots.
- R&D vacuum systems — university and national-lab test stands where the existing chamber is Nor-Cal NC-50 and the user needs a like-for-like spare instead of a re-plumbed system.
- Mass spectrometers and analytical instruments — sample-introduction and ion-source isolation where 1/2″ (DN50) is the standard interface.
- E-beam and ion-implant subsystems — beam-line isolation, gate valves upstream of the source, and trap assemblies downstream of the beam.
- Refurbished / second-user tool rebuilds — brokers and refurbishers who restore retired 200 mm and 300 mm tools and need a continuous supply of legacy NC-50 spares for production cells, not for greenfield build-out.
- Production-line spare-parts cabinet — our Real-Time Sales List shows what we have actually shipped recently, useful as a reference for which NC-50 variants are still in demand.
Integration & Wiring Notes
Most Nor-Cal NC-50 components are purely mechanical and have no electrical interface of their own. Where the part is a valve, integration boils down to the actuator interface (pneumatic solenoid or stepper / DC motor controller) and the position-switch feedback going back to the cell controller. KOEED can walk through the actuator side of the design when you send your line layout to Moritta@KOEED.COM.
| Mechanical interface |
DN50 / KF50 / ISO-K50 / CF 2.75″ mating flange — confirm exact flange code from the part body |
| Pneumatic actuator (if fitted) |
Clean dry air or N2, 4–7 bar (60–100 psi), 1/8″ NPT or 1/4″ VCR pilot port |
| Solenoid / pilot valve (if fitted) |
Typically 24 V DC; can be sourced through the same Siemens or Omron I/O stack that runs the cell |
| Position feedback (if valve) |
Mechanical or proximity SPDT / DPDT limit switches, typically 24 V DC, 0.5 A; wired into the cell Allen-Bradley / Mitsubishi DI module |
| Viewport (if viewport) |
No electrical interface; optical coating and window material (fused silica / sapphire / MgF2) must be selected for the wavelength range in use |
| Grounding / shielding |
Use star-ground lugs on the chamber body; do not rely on flange bolts alone for a low-impedance ground path back to the cell controller cabinet |
| Cell-controller side |
Wire the actuator and feedback into a local Schneider Modicon, Yaskawa MP, Panasonic FP, KEYENCE or Fanuc I/O point, and trigger a chamber-vent interlock in the cell program

Installation & Commissioning Tips
Nor-Cal hardware is precision-machined and tolerates very little abuse during install. The list below is what our vacuum team passes to our customers on every NC-50 inquiry; use it as a pre-install checklist before opening the clean bag.
-
Bag-and-glove discipline. Keep the part in its original Nor-Cal sealed bag until the chamber is ready to receive it. Wipe gloves with IPA, do not use powder, and avoid skin contact on sealing surfaces — oils outgas for hours and destroy base pressure.
-
Flange condition. Inspect both mating flanges under a ring light. A single radial scratch across the knife-edge on a CF flange is enough to scrap the seal; replace the gasket, not the part.
-
Gasket choice. Match the gasket to the duty. Viton® / Kalrez® LLR for HV-only service; OFHC copper for UHV bake-out; silver-plated stainless for high-cycle UHV. Never re-use a CF copper gasket.
-
Torque pattern. Tighten bolts in a star pattern, in two or three passes, to the Nor-Cal published value for the flange size. Over-torque bows the flange and the leak reappears.
-
Leak check before bake-out. Spray He on every joint with a mass-spectrometer leak detector (sensitivity ≤1×10-9 Pa·m3/s) before powering heaters. Catching a leak cold saves a full bake-out cycle.
-
Actuator alignment. For pneumatic valves, plumb the pilot first with the solenoid un-powered and the chamber at atmospheric pressure, then cycle the solenoid by hand to confirm the seat direction (NC vs NO) before the cell PLC AI diagnostic tool is asked to drive it.
-
Commissioning sign-off. Record base pressure, leak rate and 10-cycle response time on the FAT sheet. Send the FAT sheet to Moritta@KOEED.COM so we can back up the warranty with the install record.
-
Spares kit. Order a matched set of gaskets, a spare position-switch and one actuator rebuild kit at the same time. The lead time on Nor-Cal spares is normally longer than the lead time on the part itself.
Procurement, Warranty & Lead Time
Nor-Cal NC-50 hardware is priced on request — we do not publish a list price because the part number alone does not pin down the sub-family, and the BOM often includes gaskets, flanges and an actuator. The cleanest way to get a fixed quote is to send a Moritta@KOEED.COM request with the four items below:
- A photo of the NC-50 component, showing the body, the actuator and the flange faces.
- Overall dimensions in millimetres (length, flange OD, port-to-port).
- The serial plate or laser-engraved text, even if only partially legible.
- The tool / chamber model and the original equipment context (semiconductor, R&D, mass spec, etc.).
Lead time. Stock units ship in 3–5 business days via DHL or FedEx. Out-of-stock units are pulled from Nor-Cal’s U.S. warehouse or built to order, with a typical 4–8 week window. Warranty. 90 days on DOA (dead-on-arrival) and a like-for-like replacement for any unit that fails the He leak check on arrival. Warranty is conditional on the install record being filed back to Moritta@KOEED.COM within 30 days of receipt. Shipping. Worldwide DHL / FedEx / UPS with insurance and a tracking number that goes back to your inbox the day the unit leaves our bench. Custom paperwork (commercial invoice, packing list, COO, HS code) is included by default.
