Unlike a generic 24V power supply, a proper lithium charger follows a CC/CV (constant current / constant voltage) charging profile with cell-balancing logic to ensure the battery pack charges safely to full capacity without overcharging individual cells. The 8A charge rate means a typical 24V/100Ah pack charges from empty to full in approximately 12-14 hours.

In short: The correct charger for a Noblift PTE15N lithium pallet jack -- using a generic power supply or a lead-acid charger will either under-charge the battery (reducing runtime), overcharge individual cells (creating a fire risk), or fail to engage the battery BMS entirely.

Why You Cannot Substitute a Lead-Acid Charger

Lithium (LiFePO4) and lead-acid batteries have fundamentally different charging requirements. A lead-acid charger uses a float charge stage that holds the battery at ~27.6V indefinitely -- safe for lead-acid, but it will continuously trickle current into a lithium pack, eventually overcharging it. A lithium charger terminates charging completely when the pack reaches full voltage (typically 28.8-29.2V for a 24V LiFePO4 pack) and does NOT float. Additionally, this charger communicates with the battery BMS to ensure all cells are balanced and no cell exceeds its maximum voltage. Using the wrong charger is the most common cause of premature lithium battery failure in material handling equipment.

The charger LED stays red and the battery never finishes charging -- what is wrong?

This typically means the battery BMS has detected a cell imbalance and is bleeding down the high cells before allowing the charger to complete the charge cycle. This can take hours in a severely unbalanced pack. If the LED has been red for 24+ hours, one or more cells may have deteriorated beyond what balancing can compensate for -- the BMS is protecting the pack by refusing to allow a full charge. Have the battery professionally tested.

Can I leave the charger plugged in after the battery is full?

This charger is designed to stop charging when the pack reaches full voltage -- it will not trickle-charge or float. It is safe to leave it connected, but best practice is to unplug once charging is complete. If the pallet jack is going into storage for more than 2 weeks, charge the battery to about 60-80% (not 100%) and disconnect the charger and battery. Lithium batteries degrade fastest when stored at 100% charge in warm environments.
