Zhitai (YMTC) · TiPlus7100 · M.2 2280 · In stock
The Zhitai TiPlus7100 1TB is a consumer-grade PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD built by
Zhitai, the consumer
brand of Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC). It delivers up to 7000 MB/s sequential read and 6000 MB/s
sequential write on the standard M.2 2280 footprint, making it a strong fit for industrial PC builds
whose host controller, BIOS, and operating system are the same ones that run
Allen-Bradley,
Siemens,
Mitsubishi,
Omron,
Fanuc,
Schneider,
Yaskawa,
Panasonic, and
KEYENCE
runtime software. It is a mainstream component rather than a true industrial-grade SSD, and KOEED
sources it as part of a broader industrial-PC and adjacent-components basket.
Use this page if you are building or refreshing the host machine — an industrial PC, edge gateway,
HMI panel-PC, or engineering workstation — that runs PLC programming tools such as Studio 5000,
TIA Portal, GX Works, CX-One, or WinCC. Need a quotation or matching heatsink and M.2 mounting kit?

Key Technical Specifications & Overview
The TiPlus7100 uses YMTC’s 128-layer TLC 3D NAND and a DRAM-less controller with Host Memory
Buffer (HMB) support, which keeps the bill of materials low while still reaching PCIe 4.0 x4
throughput. The 1TB SKU provides roughly 2400 TBW endurance and a 5-year manufacturer warranty when
installed in a host with adequate airflow. A single-sided M.2 2280 (22 mm × 80 mm) layout means
it fits almost every PanelView, Magelis, GOT, and SIMATIC IPC that ships with an M.2 slot.

Application Scenarios & Where It Fits
The TiPlus7100 sits between a SATA SSD and a high-end PCIe 4.0 drive, so it works well anywhere a
modern industrial host needs fast boot and program load times without paying for a flagship SKU. The
list below is the typical deployment we see when customers pair this drive with KOEED-sourced
Allen-Bradley
controllers or
Siemens
SIMATIC panels.
-
Industrial PC (IPC) boot drive — x86 Panel-PCs hosting Studio 5000, TIA Portal, GX Works3, CX-One, or WinCC engineering software. Pairs naturally with SIMATIC, PanelView, GOT, and Magelis HMI panel-PC chassis that expose a single M.2 2280 slot.
-
Edge gateway & SCADA node — small-form-factor boxes running Modbus / OPC UA / MQTT bridging, where the OS image plus 1 TB of historical tag logging stays on a single low-cost NVMe drive.
-
Vision inspection workstation — workstations attached to KEYENCE CV-5000 / XG-8000 cameras or Fanuc iRVision cells; the 7000 MB/s read keeps inspection image buffers streaming without dropped frames.
-
Engineering & programming workstation — laptops and desktops used to offline-program Mitsubishi MELSEC, Omron SYSMAC, and Panasonic FP PLCs.
-
Robotics teach pendant & offline simulator host — drives for Yaskawa Motoman, Fanuc ROBOGUIDE, and ABB offline cells, where the 1 TB capacity fits both the OS and the full robot program library.
-
Lab & training rig — cost-effective storage for Schneider Modicon M340/M580 labs, Yaskawa MP controller benches, and PLC training classrooms.
Note: this is a consumer-grade drive rated 0 °C to 70 °C. For control cabinets above 70 °C
ambient, or for shock / vibration heavy mobile equipment, ask us about true industrial-grade NVMe
alternatives via

Integration & Wiring Notes
The TiPlus7100 uses the standard M.2 M-Key edge connector and draws both power and data through the
socket — no separate power cabling is required beyond what the host board already supplies. A
few practical points for an industrial PC build:
-
Slot compatibility — the drive works in any M.2 2280 M-Key slot that supports PCIe x4. On older motherboards with only PCIe 3.0, the drive negotiates down automatically (roughly 3500 MB/s read).
-
Heatsink & airflow — sustained writes can drive the controller into thermal throttling. Attach the supplied graphene label-side pad or a low-profile M.2 heatsink and keep chassis airflow positive.
-
BIOS settings — enable “Above 4G Decoding” and “NVMe” as the boot device. Disable CSM/Legacy if the OS image is UEFI-only (Windows 10/11 IoT, Windows Server, Ubuntu LTS).
-
Power budget — peak draw is around 5 W during sequential write. Make sure the panel-PC or workstation 12 V rail can deliver the headroom, especially with a CompactLogix or SIMATIC backplane also drawing through the same PSU.
-
Secure erase & disposal — the drive supports NVMe Format / Secure Erase. If the IPC is redeployed to a new line (or shipped back for RMA), wipe the namespace before it leaves the cabinet.
For host platforms that lack a free M.2 slot, we also stock M.2-to-PCIe adapter cards that drop into a
standard x4 slot on Advantech, Siemens, and Kontron IPC motherboards. Ask about the adapter bundle
in your next quote email.
Installation & Commissioning Tips
Mounting the drive is a single M.2 standoff screw; the work happens in the OS. The sequence below
is what we use when commissioning an industrial host that will run PLC programming software.
- Insert the drive at a 30° angle into the M.2 slot and press flat. Tighten the standoff screw to roughly 0.4 N·m — do not over-torque on a panel-PC chassis.
- Boot the host, enter BIOS, confirm the NVMe is detected, set it as the first boot device, then save and exit.
- Install the OS (Windows 10/11 IoT LTSC, Windows Server, or Ubuntu 22.04 LTS are the common picks). Partition as GPT, align to 4 KB, and leave 10–15% of the drive unpartitioned for over-provisioning.
- Install the engineering toolchain you actually use — Studio 5000, TIA Portal, GX Works3, CX-One, EcoStruxure, or MotionWorks. Storing the project library on the same NVMe keeps compile times low.
- Enable scheduled TRIM and verify SMART data using the
KOEED AI Diagnostic Tool
or any NVMe-aware utility. We log the baseline SMART counters so a future warranty claim has a reference.
- Image the clean, configured drive with a sector-level tool (Clonezilla, Macrium, or vendor Acronis) and store the image on a NAS. Recovery time after a corrupted OS shrinks from hours to minutes.
- If the host runs 24/7 (which most industrial PCs do), enable Windows Update maintenance windows and configure BitLocker / LUKS before the unit leaves the bench.
