TECO Servo Troubleshooting & FAQ

1. The drive displays an "AL-01" (Overcurrent) alarm during acceleration. What should I check?
AL-01 indicates that the motor current exceeded the hardware limits. This is commonly caused by: 1) A physical mechanical jam or locked rotor. 2) Acceleration times set too aggressively in the PLC for the connected load inertia. 3) A short circuit in the U/V/W motor power cable. Disconnect the motor cables and check phase-to-phase resistance.
2. I am sending pulses from my PLC, but the motor does not turn (No Alarm). Why?
First, verify that the Servo On (SON) signal is active and the motor shaft is rigid (holding torque is applied). Next, check the pulse input wiring. If using an open-collector output from a 24V PLC, ensure you have wired the appropriate pull-up resistors or used the correct 24V pulse input pins on the drive's CN1 connector to prevent burning out the drive's internal optocouplers.
3. What does alarm "AL-06" (Position Error Over) mean?
AL-06 occurs in Position Mode when the difference between the commanded pulses from the PLC and the actual encoder feedback exceeds the allowed parameter limit. This usually happens if the mechanical system is too heavy/stiff (causing the motor to lag), the electronic gear ratio is set incorrectly, or the PID gain settings are too soft.
