Korgood ZM20-12 Ignition Transformer — High-Voltage Burner Ignition Coil (1PC)
Korgood · Burner Component · 2×6kV / 2×8kV · In stock
The Korgood ZM20-12 is a compact, epoxy-potted high-voltage ignition transformer designed
for direct spark ignition of industrial gas and light-oil burners. It steps a 110/220V AC supply up to
2×6kV or 2×8kV output so the ignition electrode can reliably strike an
arc across the burner nozzle. As a Chinese burner-component OEM, Korgood supplies the ZM20-12 to OEMs and
end users running industrial combustion equipment — it is widely used as a direct replacement for
legacy Brahma TM31-style
coils and pairs cleanly with
Honeywell S4565 /
Siemens LFL1.335 /
Fireye UV-1.1 burner
management controls on factory automation lines.
Looking for a specific burner management or PLC to drive the ignition sequence? KOEED stocks the full

Application Scenarios — Where the ZM20-12 Fits
The ZM20-12 is purpose-built for direct-spark intermittent burner ignition in industrial
combustion equipment. Common deployments include:
-
Industrial boilers — gas-fired and dual-fuel steam / hot-water boilers in textile, paper and chemical plants.
-
Kiln burners — rotary kilns for cement, lime, alumina and ceramic production.
-
Furnace burners — heat-treatment, forging and reheat furnaces in steel and metalworking shops.
-
Process heaters — direct-fired process heaters in refinery, petrochemical and gas-processing units.
-
Paint drying ovens — automotive and white-goods paint lines where stable spark initiation matters.
-
Food processing steam boilers — brewery, dairy and edible-oil plants running low-NOx gas burners.
-
Asphalt mixing plants — drum and batch plants with multi-burner aggregate dryers.
-
Incinerators and thermal oxidizers — waste-to-energy and RTO/RCO pilot burners.
Pairing the ZM20-12 with a burner-management system (BMS) is standard practice. Browse related

are the usual operator interface.
Integration & Wiring Notes
The ZM20-12 has three primary-side connections (live, neutral, ground) and two M5 high-voltage studs on
the secondary side. Always run the high-voltage side with silicone-jacketed ignition cable (typically
7 kV or 10 kV rated) and keep the lead as short as practical to limit capacitive losses.
| Primary L / N |
110V or 220V AC live & neutral (select terminal by supply) |
| Primary Earth |
Bond to burner chassis ground; mandatory for EMC & safety |
| Secondary HV1 / HV2 |
2× M5 stud outputs to dual ignition electrodes |
| Suggested Cable |
Silicone HV ignition lead, 7 kV min, ≤ 1.5 m per leg |
| Interlock |
Drive the primary through a flame-safeguard relay contact; never hard-wire direct to mains |
| Spacing |
Keep HV leads ≥ 50 mm away from low-voltage signal & PLC wiring to avoid induced noise |
The BMS contactor (or TRIAC output on a Siemens LME / Honeywell S4565) is the on/off control for the
primary. Many panels use a dedicated safety relay or a small Schneider Modicon M340
/ Yaskawa MP2300 safety I/O
slice to drop the ZM20-12 out of circuit the moment the flame sensor goes dark. Need help with the

Installation & Commissioning Tips
-
Mount on a cool, vibration-free surface. Epoxy-potted coils shed heat through the body; keep them away from the burner windbox and the hot side of refractory.
-
Set electrode gap first, then tighten HV studs. 3.5–4.5 mm is the sweet spot; oversized gaps cause the arc to track back into the coil and shorten life.
-
Verify the BMS trial-for-ignition (TFI) timer. Most LFL/LME controllers run a 3–5 s TFI window — the ZM20-12’s 3 s on-time limit is the design reference.
-
Use a flame meter or UV scanner, not your eyes, on first light-off. A weak UV signal often traces back to a marginal spark, not a bad detector.
-
Inspect HV cable terminations every 3 months. Carbon tracking at the boot is the most common cause of nuisance flame-fail lockouts.
-
Ground the burner chassis at one point only. Multi-point ground loops on a ZM20-12 produce arcing at the stud that the BMS will read as a flame loss.
-
Log the first 10 ignition attempts. A consistent 2–3 s flame-prove time means a healthy installation; creeping toward the TFI limit means electrode wear.
Want to size a small burner control panel around this coil?
Panasonic FP0R or
KEYENCE KV-series PLCs
are popular for compact burner skids, while a
Omron CP1H handles
mid-size boilers. For large multi-burner furnaces with modulating dampers, the
Fanuc servo + drive
package drives the air-fuel ratio cleanly.
